There are numerous applications for pumps in the bioprocessing industry. The Magma APS air diaphrgm pumping system is perfect for both short term low shear sanitary/sterile pumping and for extended operations where low shear sanitary/sterile pumping is required and/or the use of a tubing pump that can rupture and leak unexpectedly needs to be avoided.

In all applications, the Magma APS' advanced features and ease of integration of industry standard components will complete the optimization of your process. Following are application highlights for the Magma APS system:

Cross flow filtration - The Magma APS in conjunction with a hollow fiber filter can create a cell harvest system or a bioreactor perfusion system. The hollow fiber filter retains the cells and the cross flow through the hollow fiber inhibits debris from fouling the membrane filter surface. The gentle diaphragm pump protects the cells [SEE PUMP PERFORMANCE DATA]. The Magma APS control system can also be used for a pre-use filter integrity test. Either unidirectional or reverse cross flow (RXF) can be used.

Low shear liquid transfer - The Magma APS is perfect for liquid transfer operations where low shear sanitary/sterile pumping is required (e.g., cell transfer- [SEE DATA]) or use of a tubing pump that can rupture and leak unexpectedly needs to be avoided (e.g., extended bioreactor additions during a fed-batch process). Also, it will automatically shut down with built in safety features if the downstream over-pressurizes.

Low shear liquid-liquid mixing - The Magma APS can be used for low shear mixing of readily miscible liquids without the use of an impeller by providing gentle agitation of the liquid in a process vessel.

 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
     
Installation options - Depnding on the application, here are the different proces installation options:
